HYMN 15
C.M.S 20, H.C 22, 10s 4s (FE 32)
“And all the night with light of fire"
- Ps.78:14
1. LEAD, kindly, light amid the
Encircling gloom Lead thou me on
The night is dark and I am far from home
Lead thou me on
Keep thou my feet, l do not ask to see
The distant scene, one step enough for me.
2. I was not ever thus, nor pray'd that Thou
Shouldn’t lead me on
I love to choose and see my path but now
Lead thou me on
I love the Parish day, and spite of fears,
Pride ruled my will, remember not
past years.
3. So long Thy power hath bless'd me sure it still
Will lead me on
O'er moor and fen, o'er crag and torrent, still
The night is gone.
And with the morn those angels' faces smile
Which I have loved long since and
lost a while.
4. And until then, as on this pilgrimage
That Thou has trod
Lead Thou me on,
Jesus blessed Saviour
To Father's home. Amen
